There was a cop on his horse waiting to cross the road when a little boy on his new shiny bike stopped beside him.
"Nice bike," the cop said,"did santa bring it to you ?"

"Yep," the little boy said,"he sure did!"

The cop looked at the bike and while handing the boy a $20 ticket he said, "Next year, tell santa 2 put a license plate on the back of it .

To go along with the cop the little boy said,"Nice horse you got there sir,did santa bring it to you?"Yes, He sure did," "Next year tell santa to put the d--k underneath the horse instead of on top."

Though my kids didn't believe in Santa, I have worked with a lot that do and realize that some of their attachments are quite strong. I have no idea how old your daughter is. If she's past six, you should probably just explain it and inwardly seethe at your neighbor. If she's 3, 4, or 5, and you think she could forget this incident and you could successfully convince her that your neighbor is full of it, then you could try. However, if she is one of those who randomly brings up something that happened like a year ago (my four year old does this, he'll bring up things that happened last winter when he was barely three), then you might need to just tell her the truth. The main thing to remember is that she may not have been ready to know the truth, but she knows it now and if she's going to remember this later, it might cause more problems when she turns eight and you do have to tell her the truth. Then she'll wonder why you continued to lie to her all that time, especially when someone else had told her the truth in the first place. This really depends on your daughter's age and her personality.
