Well...making stuffing ahead--always do (no I don't stuff the bird).

Made creamed onions, will toast them up after turkey comes out.

Pecan pie...check....pumpkin pies....check.

Now I am wondering if I can do the corn pudding ahead...baked as well and simply heat through tomorrow.

Like most I have one oven (I now see why those double ovens were soo popular in the 60's and 70's) and with rolls, appetizers, etc I need to do as much as possible today.

What do you think? Corn pudding today or tomorrow?

Thanks have a great holiday!

My wife is making the corn pudding today to re-heat tomorrow. Should be fine.

I am home smoking a turkey today. We have 2 - one in the smoker today (12 - 15 hours), and on roasted in the oven tomorrow. I will carve the smoked one tonight for re-heatng tommorrow.

We bought a -big- counter top toaster oven for this year. Still, you can't cook everything tomorrow. Nothing wrong with doing some things today.

p.s. I agree with the post below - nothing at all wrong with cooking/carving the turkey before hand - in fact its -better- that way. There nothing worse or more stressfull than trying to do the big 'carving at the table' presention. Takes up too much time and space and too many things can go wrong.

I've done a lot of my cooking ahead too. The corn pudding I make and refrigerate. Bake it at the last minute. There are so many of us that we serve Thanksgiving dinner buffet style. So I roast the turkey the day before, slice it, and refrigerate. Heat it while corn pudding is baking. I've got my pumpkin pies in the oven right now and did the sweet potato pies last night. I've cooked the chicken and will make the rolled dumplings tomorrow morning. I can hardly wait! Happy Thanksgiving!

I cook or prepare as much as possible the day ahead. I am even cooking the turkey today. The mess will be all cleaned up before company arrives. I will reheat turkey slices in chicken stock tomorrow, and put the wings, legs on a baking sheet to reheat & crisp up. The turkey is so much moister & warmer this way.
Corn pudding can easily be prepared ahead 7 just reheated tomorrow. Have a great Thanksgiving.

today would be fine. I would go ahead and cook it now and then gently reheat it, as you dont want to curdle it with the extreme heat., My mom has double ovens at her house and i never appreciated them until i moved out and now just have one oven that always seems to quit working just as i put the bread in for the dinner. :D oh well.. today Im making my corn, green beans, dressing, cakes. pie and starting to make the appetizers, i will assemble them tomorrow while the other food is cooking. Good Luck and hopefully we wont be too stressed tomorrow..
