As far as I know, apples do not contain cyanide or are sprayed with this potentially harmful compound for insecticidal purposes.
However, apple pips do contain arsenic, but I think you would probably have to consume a vast amount of these to do yourself any damage.

you'd die of over eating and a burst stomach before you would consume enough cyanide to kill you. unless your partner has recently taken out a large life insurance policy on you and is putting you on an apples only diet!

It's only the seeds that contain cyanide and it's indeed trace amounts. You would thusly have to eat an incredible amount of apple seeds... I don't think you have to worry.

approx 4,330 in one sitting, the most apples eaten in one sitting was 54 by david finnigan in orlando USA. i can manage roughly 8 in one sitting. thats a guess, maybe i could only manage 5, who knows????
