Media player recognizes movie files as music files and won't play previews. Error shows cannot play file because codec used to compress is not compatible. When I first started with lime wire this was not the case. Problem with player or limewire?

in limewire search in program search for codecs and download the latest or most popular or whatever and run it. it'll update all the players on ur computer, and u can play most files everywhere. not a limewire problem it happens in all download programs when a new compression type is used so just get the latest codec.

Although MP plays a lot of these type's it dose not support them all. If you have Google on your PC then make a search for VideoLan you may find this a better player and also convertXtoDVD which will not only convert your down loaded .avi's but will also burn them to DVD all in one opperation but make sure that the media you use is compatable with your DVD player is DVD-R or DVD+R you should be OK then. Hope this has helped Dr K.I.A.

Try downloading the Windows Media Player Classic. If it is a codec problem, this player plays most.
