Actually, you should cook the stuffing ahead of time and then either stuff it inside the uncooked bird prior to roasting the turkey, or keep the stuffing warm and serve it on the side once the bird's done. A few folks still take the inordinate risk of putting uncooked stuffing in the raw bird and cooking 'em that way - but the risk of food poisoning from improper cooking is quite high if done this way. Believe me, salmonella and her ugly cousins are not the way you want to end Thursday evening. Hospital emergency rooms are NO FUN on Thanksgiving night - even for those of us who work there!

yes..

you can put the stuffing or dressing in the pan with the turkey, but you need to make sure it is moist..
You can also put it in the turkey cavity, wich many people do..
I personally put mine in a seperate pan, because I make alot of it..I start mine 2 hours before the turkey is done, but the recipie I use is my great great grandmas, with a few added touches of my own..

Anyway you bake it, it will be excellent..
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, I would, but I have to work the next 3 nights :(

At my house, we usually cook the stuffing on a cookie sheet type thing...a flat pan thing...? By it's self. 4 hours is a really looong time.

you can put cold stuffing in a cold turkey to make it safe to eat, but do not put hot stuffing in a cold turkey as bacteria will form.
