So is the life of the flesh in the blood? Although not confirmed by science until modern times, this statement from Leviticus 17:11 has always been true. Blood actively maintains life by providing a vital function for all cells, tissues and organs, and thus the life of the whole body. The more we find out about the astounding functional design and complexity of blood, the more marvellous it becomes to us, and the more honour and praise is due its Creator

Neither. It's in the chemical reactions. Many things are alive without a soul or blood -- bacteria, for example, are alive, but have neither soul nor blood (unless you want to take reincarnation to the EXTREME).

Soul I'd say...you're physical being would die if you were to bleed
excessively, but your soul would live forever. ...

Blood is the river
Soul is the boat.
If you capsize, you have come down to earth. 6 feet of it.

The life force is 'spirit' and is in all things alive. Trees, cats, humans, mushrooms, virus, ragweed, buffalo, you get the idea.
