To make such a statement you would have to have complete knowledge and to have been everywhere in the universe. Maybe God dwells somewhere in the universe you don’t know of or have not been to? Is that possible?
i also understand that i cannot make a 100% accurate opinion of why he DOES exsist. it just means that we all choose to believe what we want.

For an atheist, to say that "God does not exist" is not an extreme thing. To an atheist, the concept of God or a God has no bearing in reality and it makes perfect sense to say that there is no God.

When you state that "Maybe God dwells somewhere in the univers you don't know of or have not been to? Is that possible?", that is an agnostic's view. There might be a God, but one doesn't have enough proof to know for sure.

So, in short, to an Atheist .. no, it's not extreme.

Atheists, Isn’t it a bit extreme to assert "a hippo flying through space does not exist"?

Likelihood and evidence, not possibility, is what we base rational thought upon.

Second point... not all atheists assert that there is no god. A weak atheist (also called agnostic atheist or soft atheist, etc) lacks belief. Babies, for example, are weak atheists, and so are adults that lack belief until evidence is presented. No evidence, no belief.

You make the assertion he does, and you lack complete knowledge.

So we're in the same boat.

Besides, weak atheism doesn't say 'god does not exist', only 'I do not believe in gods'. Only strong atheism makes the statement, 'there are no gods'. In some ways, weak atheism and agnosticism go hand-in-hand.

However, I do not think it at all extreme to assert "there are no invisible anthropomorphic lions in the back yard who lust for me every time they see me." I've no evidence for or against, so the logical default is non-existence.

So no, it's not extreme to assert there are no deities. Show me some evidence and we'll be on to something. Until then, the logical default is logically sound.

Though... maybe I should go hang out in the backyard and believe as hard as I can... hmmm...

I never say 100% anything. My belief is very strong that their isn't a God due to the overwhelming lack of any measurable evidence at all. There is way more evidence that UFOs are visiting Earth from another solar system and you know I don't buy that either because the evidence is extremely flimsy and there are other explanations for all of it..

Until presented with evidence I am very comfortable with my assertion that he doesn't exist. You are the one with the theory that he does, and that means the burden of bringing evidence falls on you.

"Atheists : Isn’t it somewhat extreme to assert "God would not exist"?" No. because of the fact if God exists then i'm an imaginary creature. So f... him. And it would not experience like i'm. "To make this type of assertion you will possibly ought to have finished understanding and to have been everywhere in the universe. maybe God dwells someplace in the universe you don’t recognize of or have not been to? Is that possible" i do no longer see how thats a "God" if it purely dwells in a niche like an inanimate merchandise. "Why does humanity look to have an innate choose and could desire to worship something, or somebody? Why is there this type of well-known non secular experience interior humanity?" nicely i do no longer likely experience the could desire to worship, yet i ask your self alot approximately why human beings experience the choose for faith. i think of nature instilled a survival instinct into residing issues, that has to do with falling in love with nature consequently having the prefer to stay to tell the story. Kinda like plant life have aroma etc. to entice interest and unfold seeds. You "fall in love" with existence and think of theres something particular or "too complicated" approximately all of it, in view which you could no longer somewhat describe why you like existence... Lol, i don't recognize, i think of this final question is extra for the believers.

I think it is extreme to believe what is in a book just because someone tells you it contains the truth. I mean the bible.
Christians I know get all worked up when I deny the existance of some invisible force, and they have an answer for every question I pose. What about 3rd world countries where they have been worshipping tree bark for 1000 years? Oh, we will pray for them and they will be saved. What about your gay brother who is in flagrant violation of the bible? Oh, we will pray for him so he will be saved. What about Jews (my birth religion) who don't believe in hell? No hell, why not no heaven? Jews are the "chosen people" but do not believe in Jesus. Explain why god picked the Jews, then.

Isn't extreme to assert that there is God? When you cann't give even a single evidance of your God? The "Holy Bible" is just the thoughts of Kings and their teachings. If u dispute that find a verse in that Slave Book which tells u about questioning something. There is none! It tells u to obey from beggining to end.

i'm Agnostic and consider anyone making any absolute assertion concerning the status of God to be an egotist.

however, religious folks not only assert that their deity exists (without evidence thereof) but claim to know the what, why and hows of the deity's thinking and feeling. to believe you know what a supreme being thinks and feel and wants is egotism in the extreme.

I reserve a small bit of agnosticism on the subject, but to be 100% sure it does exist is crazy as well. If there was a god it wasn't the one written about in those books.

That's just our popular catch phrase. We actually believe that no one knows for sure what is, or is not in the farthest reaches of the universe. But, the concept of "god" as is believed by the main religions, is nonsense, in our collective opinions. And we just plain don't believe god exists. Just like you do believe, without 100% proof.
