I asked this last night and got some interesting responses. I thought I would ask to the morning crowd.

You know, the ones the usually have a piece of cardboard that says something like "Will work for food" or "Need help".

Do you ever slow down or stop for those people? Or do you just zoom right past them in your fancy smancy $100,000 vehicle?

If you stop for them, why?And do you give them anything useful(change, money, recyclable cans, a Bible maybe?)? And If you dont stop for them, Why not?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3-1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

I always slow down when there are people on the side of the road and move over away from them (possibly even in the other lane if no one is coming) as a courtesy (no one wants a car to zoom by them closely at 55 mph). As to helping strangers who need help, as a female I tend to not stop to pick up males, but I have helped women who were on the street. I usually try to help with what is needed rather than just giving money. For example, a woman on the street was once asking for money for bus fare. Instead of giving her money, I drove her to where she needed to be. You're right, the Bible is very clear about Christian charity. And most religions encourage the same sort of behavior.

I'll sometimes buy them something to eat or give them enough money for a motel room. Why, because I feel like everyone should help someone in need from time to time. Religion has nothing to do with it . But I don't stop every time I see a person with a sign. Why, it is not my job to support them. Help them yes, support them, no
