To me, sanctity only means that one holds their life in such a standard that is recognized as holy and commited to God. It is a life that I strive to live in spite of being surrounded by negative spirits and folks that would tell me different. It's a life that separates you from the "average" person - you strive to talk differently, think differently, walk differently, your whole being is different AND people in the world can recognize that there is something different about you - all the time. First your thinking much change and then you start to believe in your heart what you think and then you confess from your mouth what you believe in your heart. That's a changed and holy life. When people speak doubt and unbelief around you, you are always saying something good. When people say ugly things about people, you speak up and say something good. Holiness is next to Godliness and when you believe that Jesus, the Christ lives inside you, you have to be different - because you acknowledge what he would do, say, think and feel as opposed to your own thoughts (which are carnal and often mean)

The Old Testament believers who neither knew God nor His will - as Jesus Himself said about them - didn't have a clue about the sanctity of life until Jesus laid down His life as the ultimate definition of sanctity.
The definition of sanctity is that you cannot 'kill' a person who has eternal life. 'They' tried to kill Jesus but He showed them that He had eternal life. His sanctity was in God and in 'laying down His life and taking it up again' He showed the meaning of sanctity.
Sanctity and killing are mutually hostile like God and Satan respectfully. So desparate are people, in every age, to kill the sanctity of the Spirit. It is recorded in the gospels that the Pharisees were planning the 2nd death of Lazarus after Jesus had brought Him back to life. To prove what? To prove they had the carnal power over another person's life - a true mark of Satan who operates solely on the flesh of man but has no power over the Spirit.
And 1000 words later.... a totally watertight definition of 'sanctity' read http://www.lulu.com/dunamis and be edified.

To say a cell is nothing, is wrong.. To stop that you are blocking Jehovah from doing his creation. Abortion is the expulsion of an embryo or a fetus that is not normally able to live outside the womb. Spontaneous abortion or miscarriage may result from human imperfection or from an accident. Deliberately induced abortion simply to avoid the birth of an unwanted child is the willful taking of human life. Many good loving people would love to have a baby and Im sure they will put a girl or woman up during this time if it need be...Don't worry and feel quilty for doing a loving thing. its the best thing you can do for your child is to bring it to term.. You wouldn't want to die right?.. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY? LISTEN TO REASON Does Jehovah OUR GOD view the life of a child as precious even during the very early stages of development after conception? Ps. 139:13-16: “You [Jehovah] kept me screened off in the belly of my mother. . . . Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing.” Has God ever stated that a person would be called to account for injury to an unborn child? Ex. 21:22, 23: “In case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children do come out but no fatal accident occurs, he is to have damages imposed upon him without fail according to what the owner of the woman may lay upon him; and he must give it through the justices. But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul.” (Some translations make it appear that in this law to Israel the crucial matter was what happened to the mother, not to the fetus. The original Hebrew text, however, refers to a fatal accident to either mother or child.) How serious is the willful taking of a human life for a reason not authorized by God? Gen. 9:6: “Anyone shedding man’s blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God’s image he made man.” 1 John 3:15: “No manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him.” Ex. 20:13: “You must not murder.”

Sanctity means set apart as Holy. The Bible says that "The life is in the blood." In this way, blood is considered sacred.

to sanctify one's life is to make one's life holy.
whereas b4, i thought it meant 2 make urself as much like jesus as possible, but this can only be true 2 a certain degree since we are all different individuals with different purposes.
i think the new meaning is 2 view the Universe accurately (i.e. as it is). in this way, we can react towards all forces in our life with clarity instead of being fooled by misconceptions and inaccurate perceptions, as this is what jesus taught.
th@ is why he (jesus) felt he had 2 give us clarity on certain issues such as lust: if we lust after some1, we have slept with them despite the illusion that nothin has gone on.
When we get to see the Universe in clarity, we can observe these things ourselves. once we see these things, we can react in a holy manner. after all, God has no illusions and sees with clarity. Likewise, when we see with clarity, we will move with clarity and thus sanctify ourselves.

Christians believe that all life is created by God and is set apart for His will and purpose. He gave us free will because He didn't want a race of robots, but people who would choose Him and choose life.

They believe that god created life and therefore only god can take it away. So in cases of euthenasia or abortion they believe god created the life so nobody should be allowed to take it away.
However, they tend not to follow this reasoning when advocating the death penalty esp. in America.
