help me increase my credit status. Any ideas? Would a store card be a better option at this point?

Try a secured card You send in that amount and that is the limit of the card. Or try a loan from a finance place If you have low credit I doubt you would be able to get a store card

Go to moneysupermarket.com that will give you those available based on your probably credit rating, it asks you loads of questions. That'd give you an idea of which you can get and then get a small amount and pay it off almost immediately and close the account, credit rating is all about paying off stuff outstanding debts don't count, borrow some money pay it back and keep doing it your rate will increase. Good luck!

I wouldnt get a credit card. To increase credit status, buy something on HP with zero interest, this will increase your credit rating and you wont pay anything over the odds.

I have a really low credit rating due to bad debts years ago. I got a Capital one card where i paid a deposit of £50 to get it. Then i got Littlewoods credit card. They both have very high APR of 29.9%. They trick is to get them and use them, but pay them off every month. So for example if you spend £100 on petrol a month, use them and pay them off with the money you would have spent anyway. Eventually you will be recorded as a good payer and your rating will improve. Mine has!!

Capital One do credit cards for people with low credit ratings, and the MOney Shop do pre-paid credit cards. You could try them

I just got approved by Vanquis for a credit card - I've only been working full time for 3 weeks and and have a low credit score due to previous debts.

Have a look at www.moneysavingexpert.com great site for all this sort of thing. Martin Lewis is a real expert does a lot of stuff for the BBC, the financial establishment hate him because he gives good advise.
