HDMI from hd dvr to tv. But what about the DVD player, i heard that needs to be HDMI or DVI. Below is a link to my new tv. it only has one HDMI output, what should i do for the best picture quality. I didn't get the new DVD player yet, but i'll probably get an upconversion of a decent brand.

if you use your component inputs (RGB) the picture and audio quality are not quite up to high def. standards-but not far off-make sure your DVD player is set to proggressive scan output (and that your tv can support it-some cannot but if yours is a sony HD model then you should have no problems here). and select the component input on your remote control and the results can be quite surprising and very pleasing. there are on the market HDMI splitter units-but these are quite expensive (£1000 upwards) and do not justify the cost when you see the results using component sources-once again these are not quite up to HDMI/DVI capabilities but you won't go far wrong. most upscaler DVD players incorperate hdmi/component outputs so you ought to be ok.

Use either component video or S-Video and make sure you connect the audio portion. Or coaxial if available. That's about it.
