I am constantly watching my weight as well. I will post an assortment of things I do, depending on the food.
A salt free table blend of choice
Onion granules
Garlic granules
Hot sauce of some sort
Now, having listed my ideas, I will say that most of the low fat diet foods I have tried were best improved by opening, immediately putting in the nearest bin, and having scrambled egg on toast with green beans.

Stirfry beef doesn't have to be stirfried. Make a casserole - brown onions and chopped garlic in frying pan with minimum oil, remove to casserole, add chopped carrots, sweat gently over low heat. Flash brown beef in frying pan, add to casserole. Just cover with liquid - water or stock will do, but good beer or red wine is even better. If you must use your casserole mix, add it at this point. Otherwise add some herbs - oregano will go well - and season with black pepper. Cover and cook slowly - either on hob for about an hour, or in oven at about 160 degrees for as long as you like. Check occasionally that it's not drying out. If you must have salt, add it at the end to taste. NB - cheaper and tastier to buy braising or stewing steak and trim off the fat yourself.

Try adding a couple of cloves of garlic and some ground or fresh chillies (not too many if fresh)
