You do realize that both holidays are Pagan in origin? Hmm. Why are Christians celebrating Pagan holidays?

Personally, I celebrate the secular aspects of both. We exchange presents and have parties at Christmas and I love the lights and music and everything. I send and receive Christmas cards. I always send secular ones, but I often get religious ones from others (which I have no problem displaying in my home). I even have a manger scene that I set up that my aunt made. Even though I don't believe it's a true story, I think it's still a nice story. I guess some Christians might be offended that I celebrate Christmas without honoring Christ, but that's not really my concern.
Merry Christmas from an atheist!

Christmas, yes. Easter, no. But the only reason I don't celebrate Easter is because I don't have any kids, so there's really no point. If I had kids, we'd paint eggs, and I'd hide eggs and toys for them - just for fun, no religious trappings involved. As for Christmas, it's nice to get together with loved ones and exchange gifts. So of course, I'm down with that. Again, no religion included.

Why not? Both holidays were around for hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of years before Christianity.
Christmas is the celebration of the Winter Solstice, while Easter comes from the festival of the Sumerian goddess Ishtar.

The Church was the biggest political force in post Roman era Europe. It was called the dark ages for a very good reason. Society's went backwards as religious superstition took over from Roman reason and law. The Pope the political and spiritual boss of this mess set the agenda and the calendar and so instituted these holidays we enjoy to day. We have these holidays because of tradition, no other reason.

because many in their families don't know about their atheistic beliefs . everyone most atheists know are also celebrating all around them , must join the party . most atheists know that Christmas really has nothing to do with current religions ; look at the abandoned origins of 'Christmas' .

For reasons of commercialism, it makes money.
As A Christian, I celebrate Christmas for Christ, yes I know the exact day He was Born into the world to save us from our sins is not known, That in of itself, is not important, what is important is that we remember.
All of us worship a religion of such, even an Atheist has a religion, he/she just is brainwashed into believing otherwise, they should read "Godless" The Church of Liberalism by Anne Coulter

I suppose you mean why we go to Xmas parties. (I didn't know they threw Easter parties and I've never known an atheist who celebrated Easter.)
The short answer: It's a party! If it was in honor of Zeus' birthday we'd still go if it was entertaining.

*sigh* not this question again, most atheists TOLERATE religious holidays because of thier loved ones, they partake in the festivities, just none of the religious parts, gift giving at christmas has nothing to do with religion, atheists give gifts out of love for one another, eating easter eggs is not religious either.snowmen, christmas trees, lights all that winter stuff is not religious!
