I know of many people who use gel and there hair is already starting to fall out and they aint even old

Yes, it does. Due to the chemical ingredient of the gel. It does damage the roots of the hair. Eventually, your hair will fall off, maybe not all but still..............
The trick is the use gel without touch the root of the hair.

I think it is mostly hereditary. I think if you pull your hair back really tight all the time, it can make your hair receed a little bit more. That is what i have heard. Using a lot of chemical on your hair like perms, relaxers, and stuff i think can make your hair thin over time, eventually.
