This has been going on for about 4 weeks. Any suggestions?

Show her how the drain is working. It'll make her feel better if she understands it. Also explain to her how a sink does over flow, and how it takes a little time, and the drain has to be clogged first, tell her what to look for so she can know the difference between a drain thats working, and one thats going to over flow.

If she can see the water going down the drain, then she knows the sink isnt going to overflow.

I remember I used to be like that when I was small I was probably her age when it started. I used to cry every time some one would turn on the water. But my family never did anything to help. I remember my dad would tease me instead. I don't feel this way anymore but it took me a long time to get over it.
