Hey ya'll, what does everyone think? In my opinion the main reason we have a serious immigration problem is because of how lazy we as Americans have become. Yesterday, I was speaking with a friend who just graduated law school and is about to take her bar. She told me she was going to specialize in immigration law. She told me that throughout her tenure in school, most of her professors were in agreement that illegal immigration is an American made problem. The bottom line is too many Americans on welfare, housing, medical, food stamps, monies and how much they receive is based on their annual income. Why should these people who are on government assistance get a job when they will lose government assistance when they report their income. I am not to familiar with the process of obtaining government assistance and maybe I am writing without first getting the facts. But what my friend told me made lots of sense.
Why work when I get everything free. Is America too lazy?

I am mostly talking about the America that doesn't want to better themselves by going to school. We are a nation full of homegrown had working educated patriots who want a good life and don't expect nothing on a silver platter.

That's my dumpster diving sisters plan, why get a real job when she can just be a baby factory and get government assistance. Her loser boyfriend/felon got on dissability and social security at 23 because of depression. Maybe if that loser got a job he could feel better about himself and stop collecting money from a social security he has never contributed to.
Lazy *** Americans who don't work should be forced by the national guard to pick crops at $2.50 an hour. If they wont work voluntarily, they go to crop picking boot camp, thereby keeping our crop prices low, motivating some americans, keeping them in good health with all the exercise, therefore reducing the need for medicaid, and hey......ALL THE APPLES AND CABBAGE THEY CAN EAT!!

I fail to see the connection between Americans on welfare and illegal aliens committing their crime of illegal entry.
Yes I do think that there are some people that have made a lifestyle out of entitlements. Its very wrong but again I don't see your connecting thought between the two.The legal Americans whether they deserve to be or not are still legal Americans not illegal aliens.A purging of our welfare/entitlement programs is dearly needed, that I grant you .There are many that should be made to work
and not sit back and make a mockery of this system that was designed to be a helping hand not ones sole support for generation after generation.
But illegal aliens have no right whatsoever to even be in this nation. They are criminals by definition of their crime.
There is no correlation between legal Americans on welfare(deserved or not) and illegal aliens.
I'm not sure you interpreted your "friend" correctly,in your assumptions.Americans are not lazy and to say that is a incorrect generalization. Most legal Americans are hard working and enterprising If not how do you think we managed to become the nation we are today.?We invented most of the things that make your life easier today.Including the computer you are using to complain on.I own my own business ,my husband owns several. We have worked long hard hours for years after college to get to where we are today. We just like millions of our fellow Americans worked hard for our American dream. There are no jobs Americans haven't done before and wouldn't do again for a livable wage. Most Americans cant live on the low wages that the illegal alien will accept, because we don't live 14 or more people crammed in to a small apartment or house.Even our legal poor are use to a better standard of living than that.
The problem with illegal aliens is because of our nations
failure to enforce its existing laws against both the illegal and the people that employ the illegal.

I'm for massive welfare reform...we have too much 'public assistance' etc., people get false values from that. If you want money, get a job. It's pretty straightforward. No one's telling you to go out and work 100 hours a week, although some people do just that, but 40-50- 60 hours is what a normal person of reasonable skill and motivation should be able to handle...

I agree that Americans have become a bit soft. But this issue is not about that fact. It is about a country having the will to enforce it's own laws. No great society has survived while allowing uncontrolled immigration. This was one of the factors that lead to the fall of Rome--influx of nomadic peoples.
We need to elect Senators and Representatives with a hard line against illegal immigration. Only WE can speak against it via our vote. This is also not a Republican or Democrat issue. Both parties have done a poor job of dealing with the issue.

I care if there are Americans on welfare. Since when is it some strangers right to use my hard earned money to live on? Baloney.
Our country has the problem of illegal immigration because we made it too inviting to come to the States and exploit the system. For hundreds of years we welcomed anyone who wanted to come here. Now we are paying the price.
I don't think it is due to laziness. Laziness is a whole other issue entriely.

I fail to be certain how being offended that criminals are turning out to be away with their crimes makes someone a racist. bottom line - there are regulations governing how and at the same time as human beings can flow to u . s . a . of america. human beings steer sparkling of those regulations and are available into our united states illegally. That makes them criminals - they have knowingly and willfully violated the regulation. Now, if i comprehend that that's unlawful to thieve, yet i'm really hungry and that i destroy into your position and thieve your television and stereo and then promote it for money for nutrition, that's nevertheless unlawful. it would not count number the rationalization that those human beings are coming the following - in undeniable actuality that they are coming the following illegally. The "bleeding hearts" want to attempt to muddy the placement through saying how undesirable that's the position those human beings come from, yet our society does no longer enable criminal habit basically because issues are not likely properly for you. individuals are literally not offended adequate on the unlawful immigration situation.

It is an federal government caused problem....middle-class Americans, in the past, could trust our government to do what was best for America & Americans. This is no longer the case..our government is protecting the illegal aliens over Americans..but most of us are living in a state of denial not laziness... "My government would not do that" well, wake-up...they ARE!!!!

You are right, its too readily available and abused. But note these Americans who need assistance even for a short time have no choice. In the state of GA for a single mom of 1 child to receive wic assistance (basically food stamps) she must gross less than $1200.00 a month!!!!!! Now I don't know about you, but in GA $1200.00 won't even qualify you for an apartment! And certainly not one in a neighborhood that crime isn't prevalent. Much less, food, electricity, heat, minimal clothing, supplies the school age children need, medical care, childcare if you can afford to work and still get the assistance you may need. But you wouldn't believe how hard it really is to get assistance if you are American. As much time as you spend at the welfare office showing proof of identification and citizenship, etc. you don't have time to look for a job. But if you are illegal, you do not have to show anything, you walk in tell them you need assistance (to a bilingual individual, because you don't feel that you need to learn the English language, even though you are living on American soil and using hard working Americans tax $$$). Not to mention 80% of the illegals are not paying taxes, except sales tax, but they still get full the benefits. Think about that.

yes, you are right america is too lazy. My cousin has a double major in computer science and technology, but he refuses to get a job, he could get $15-30 and hour starting but he refuses.
Illegals are making the laziness worse, they also gouge on social services and Do not learn english, and commit crimes.
in NYC, 1/8 people get food stamps, that is fn rediculous.

Who cares if there are some Americans who are currently on Welfare, They are American! that is their right. I think it's funny that you illegals make comparison of your self with our poor. Do you think you are better then an American who is currently on welfare? I think not, look at the garbage can you crawled out of. If anything these people are the victims of illegal immigration. The reason illegals come is because rich American business owners want to pay them pennies to do the same work@! has nothing to do with laziness.
