Your 10-year old can definitely give you away....that's a great idea!

As for bridesmaid numbers, it's best to keep it to a minimum (three is a good number), and stick to the people who you are absolutely closest to, like sister, future sister-in-law, and very best, long-time friend.

Once you stray outside of your closest circle of friends, people will start asking "why wasn't I asked to be a bridesmaid?"

Don't forget as well that you'll have to pay for their dresses, hair and make-up, gifts, etc.

There is no such thing as wedding police!
If you want 20 bridesmaids from age 1 day to 101 go for it. It depends on personal preference. I would suggest that to keep happy bridesmaids with a large age gap to pick your colour and let them pick flattering styles for their taste. It can actually make dress hunting more fun if everyone has different dresses there are many companies that make separates so they can have the same bottom but, each pick a top that they might wear again (check out the impressions collection adds where tops are paired with jeans as an idea to wear again)
Your son can give you away but, you will need someone older to sign as a witness. It is a very good idea to have your little man do this as it will give him an important role that is just his own. I would also suggest an offering from your new husband like a presentation of a watch and a pledge to be a good father. This is not only a wedding but, also a ceremony to celebrate the completion of your new family. If you haven't addressed your invites yet consider wording that list your son as the host of the event . example Tom Smith requests your presence at the marriage of his mother Jane Smith to John Brown ......

You can have as many, or as few bridesmaids as you want...I think the traditional rule is for every 50 guests, you have 1 bridesmaid, but this gets broken constantly, I have about 200 coming and I have 7 bridesmaids of different ages (8yrs-30!) I have also been to a wedding where the bride had maybe 50 people there, and had 8 bridesmaids, 3 flower girls and a ring bearer...the wedding party was had more people in it than came to the wedding!

As far as your son giving you away, I love it when people do that. Its possibly the most appropriate way to include him. I have seen it done and it was soooo special. DEFINETLY GO FOR IT!

There is no limit to the number of bridesmaids that you can have...I have planned wedding where the brides have had as little as 3 and others where there were 8-10...it just depends on who you are close to etc. Bridesmaids are no younger than 16...before 16 they are called junior bridesmaids.

As for your son giving you away, I don't think it is such a great idea...if you want to include him, then make him a junior groomsman. He doesn't understand the concept of giving you away and, honestly, I would pick an older relative...or be unique and walk down on your own. If your mother is still around, she could do it also.

I think anyone can give you away but you will need to check with the church/registry office. As for bridesmaids it's up to you. My friend had a civil ceremony at a hotel last year - 12 bridesmaid's and three page boys - personally I would say that's too many! However, if you've got a big family you might not have a choice - if you don't pick certain people they can get very upset. Don't forget about all the cost of having more too... I don't think there's a limit on ages but if you have little ones you will need someone to look after them and they may interrupt the service.

I love the idea of your son giving you away. There is no age limit on who can give you away...it's not like they have to sign anything saying they once "owned" you :)

As far as bridesmaids go, the number is up to the bride and groom. I'm a fan of smaller bridal parties (think 3-4 bridesmaids), but my best friend plans on having a party of at least 7. Typically, the wedding size dictates the party size. The larger the wedding, the larger the party it "allowed" to be.

There are no age limits on the bridal party, especially nowadays with children and parents being included. Generally, if a girl is under the age of 13, she is considered a junior bridesmaid, though.

I hope this information helps!
Best Wishes on your wedding!

I think it is a wonderful idea for your son to give you a way, I don't see why he can't. There isn't a limit on the amount of bridesmaids you can have, it is as many as you feel you want, and as far as I am aware I don't think there is an age limit, well I haven't heard of one anyway. I had three bridesmaids and three flowergirls at my wedding with two page boys, I didn't feel it was too many, I just found it great that I was able to involve so many people with my wedding.

I went to a wedding in August and it had
5 Bridesmaid
3 Junior Bridesmaids
3 Flower Girls

Same on the mens side

So the whole wedding party was 22

Personally - it was way too many and took ages for them to all get into the church

BUT - they were all family with a few close friends so I understand the motives

I think that you should make it your closest family/friends and think it is your wedding - make it how you want it - and don't try and accommodate everyone - if you have too many it gets expensive!!

That is a great idea for your son to give you away. I am getting married in June and the people I picked out to be my bridesmaids are my two best friends that I have been through thick and thin with. And they are the two people that I trust and love dearly. One is my sister and the other is my best friend of 16 years. But you can have as many people you want to stand up with you.

You can have as many as you like. No limit on age, upper or lower, although under 5 years old can be a bit of a handful.

Yes, your 10 year old can give you away.
