Well, since your question wasn't asking for recipe ideas, I am assuming that you already know how to make the potatoes the way you want them to taste. You can place them in a huge covered bowl and ready to go. Take some milk with you. The only thing you'd need to do when you get to your destination is to soften them up and get them hot. Add milk to the consistency you prefer, heat the potatoes and serve. (have you ever tried adding cheese, garlic powder and parmesean cheese to your dish? It's great for taste!) Happy Thanksgiving!

Make them as you normally do, but add a little more cream or milk. When you get to the house you're having dinner at, spread the top with butter and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes. You can then pop it under the broiler for a few seconds to make a golden baked top that looks and tastes awesome. You could also just heat it up in the microwave.

Another thing you can do is put the hot mashed potatoes in a container and then put it in an isulated food bag (most grocery stores have them). It keeps things hot or cold for up to 3 hours.

If you already know how to make mashed potatoes, go ahead and make them the way you usually do.

HOWEVER...

This time, make sure they don't overflow or even reach the top of the dish you're transporting. Put plastic wrap over the bowl first, then top after that w/ foil.

When you get to your destination, remove the wrappings, cut up about 2 tablespoons of butter into little pieces and sprinkle on the top. Put them in your friends oven @ 250 for about 10-15 minutes. They'll be warm & buttery & absolutely naughty!

peel and boil the potatoes, then mash them in the pot. adding the ingredients like you were about to serve them. Put a lid on the pot and you can keep them warm in the oven. Or just leave them and then heat them up when you get to the destination, just by adding a little more milk and stirring on low heat.. it wil still taste fresh.

Make them up to mashed state and put in dishes ready to heat up when you want either by microwave or oven, adding butter to keep moist.,

I suggest baking the potatoes and then putting it together when you get there.
