Regarding clay litter for cats?

How often should clay litter be changed since it isn't clumping litter?

I'm an American expat in Singapore and well clay is my only option (they're not keen on cats here) - I scoop solids daily and completely dump and wash the box every 9-14 days - depends on how bad the pee starts to smell but usually lasts about 2 weeks - try some baking soda to control the odor.

I use Fresh Step Clay cat litter and I change mine out once a week (every Sunday).

I use Fresh Step Clay because it's the only kind of litter I can find that has big chunks of litter. I hate the sand litters. gross, and my male/female track it everywhere in my house for me to step on. Fresh Step doesn't stink either!

it has an odor control made in with it. but, I do tend to spray Lysol in the bathroom after I clean the box out.

after about a week it starts to smell and you WANT to change it. plus, rememeber to scoop it out at LEAST once a day! cats don't like dirty potties. LOL!!

if you scoop it once a week then you'll be fine. I've had my oldest cat for almost 3 years and she's never had a problem.

Clay litter is gross and stinky. I was changing it like twice a week it was so bad. I switched to clumping litter and now I can wait a month or two before changing it because urine and poo can be scooped up easily.

You will probably need to change it once a week, unless you have several cats and just one or two boxes, in which case you should change it every four or five days. Remember that cats' noses are more sensitive than ours, so don't wait until you think the litter is really stinky; at that point it will be beyond stinky to your cat(s).
