Okay I have asked tons of silly questions, but this is the only 2nd real question that I have asked and needed real help...so

I know my Merlot and Chardonnays really well...I got the right California wine for tomorrow's Thanksgiving dinner...but I want to get a good Italian Chianti.. what are some good brands that are sold here in the US of a good Italian Chianti to go with turkey, ham, eggplant parmesan, and vegetables and trimmings?

Ken's selections are good and widely available.
If you want to spend a bit more, consider a Brunello di Montalcino, which is a Tuscan brother to the Chianti. The danger with a Chianti is that they are traditionally blended with white wine under the DOCG rules, so the pairing with Turkey can be a challenge. The white wine will fight with a well roasted bird.

A delicious and well made Brunello is the Pian delle Vigne. Also from the Antinori family Vineyards.

This wine is velvety like a cab or Merlot, with that rustic Italian Tuscan character that we all love from the region. Brunello is made from a special sangiovese clone, sangiovese grosso. The wines are required to be aged longer to be classified DOCG, so you get more complexity.

If the Pian delle Vigne is not available, the Banfi is also very good and widely available. The non-reserve 2001 vintage is now in the market and is absolutely stunning.

Enjoy!

Please people...stop recommending yellowtail. It is terrible!! If you know nothing about wine and appreciation of a good one, then go ahead, spend the $6.50 and get a bottle of yellowtail. Otherwise, don't bother. And he didn't ask for an Austrianian piece of crap, he asked for a good Italian Chianti. A real wine. To answer your question, try finding either one of these wines. They were made in larger quantities so they should be easier to find. They are both very good and sell for arounud $25-30. Good luck and enjoy.

I was watching "Pairings" with Andrea the other day and she suggested a Zinfandel, that is not to be confused with White Zinfandel. Zinfandel is a nice dark red wine way better than Chianti.
I will go perfectly with your menu.

Why don't you go to your favorite liquor store and see what they have to offer-- than ask a knowledgeable person in the wine dept.
