I feed my dog Innova Evo, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul and Timberwolf Organics to my dog. His poop is always small and hard.

Was everything normal before you changed foods? Try another food, but try it slowly by adding the new food a little at a time to the old, do it over the course of a week. I don't think you need a vet just yet, but definately a change of food. Maybe they are too young for the Large Breed and still need a puppy food?
As for foods, you don't have to go all crazy - just look at the ingredients and make sure that corn meal or corn is not one of the first few ingredients. The corn is a filler and is just crappy for them to eat.

I advise reading the labels. Don't buy any dog food with soy in it. The first ingredient should be chicken or lamb (not by-products) Alot of dog foods are soy and ground corn meal based and are crappy.
Some good brands are: Eukenuba, Maxximum, and Purina ONE. These run from $12.00-$21.00 per 20 lb bag.
Maxximum is available at Walmart. Purina ONE (Make sure it's ONE, not just Purina dog chow) is everyone and Eukenuba is at Petsmart, Petco, and most pet supply stores, some regular stores too.
Science Diet is garbage. Don't fall for the Science Diet line.

I have a rottie and she is 2 years old I fed her nutro controlled growth formula for large breed puppies until she was over a year old then switched her to nutro large breed adult. She has never had a problem except when I started adding nutro in the can to her dry food. She gets only the dry food now with some table scraps added and she is fine. Once you find something that they will eat and does not upset them you need to stick with it because changing their diet can cause them some distress.

DDB's are awesome dogs. Like any breed just ensure that they are health tested and bred for temprement. Do they drool... yes a lot so be prepared to deal with that LOL. They are strong but gentle giants and can be real love bugs. Do your research and avoid back yard breeders at all cost.

The dog could be allergic to something in the food. Natural Balance makes 2 allergy formula foods you could try. Venison and Rice formula and Potato and Duck formula.
