and as for the wirey hair, its funny you said that, the aussy shep in her DOES produce wirey hair, she has it now (she's 5 months now) but in these pics she did not.

+1 for you!!! lol

i would help you if i could. we know she's half australian shephard. but the other half we have no idea. she has a naturally bobbed tail, and is pretty much black with the merle spots on the one leg and into her chest. her hair was baby soft, but now she's getting the corser hair down her back (aussy trait) but she's only 5mos, so who knows. she's 20lbs (as of yesterday morning) and the litter she came from had a few that were tri-colored, one with short hair (and almost rottie markings)

we're guessing border collie, but i figured i'd ask since you guys are always so smart

and no, she is not aussy cattle dog, she is aussy shep, the people who gave them to the shelter had an aussy shep, thats why we know that half

sigh... some people.

She is totally adorable!!
With the markings and her hair getting coarser, I would have to say that is Blue Heeler traits. Australian Shepards usually have softer hair. The natural bobbed tail could also be a sign of Blue Heeler. Great breed for herding cattle or sheep. The coarse hair usually wards off most types of burrs/stickers in fields.

I think you are speaking of an Australian Cattle dog, rather than an Australian shepherd..the Aussie is also know as a Queensland Heeler..Totally different breed than an Australian shepherd (which is not of Australian origin, by the way, and the Aussie cattle dog is)
anyway, I think the pup is Australian Cattle dog, and Border Collie....looks like my litter of that mix (I raised them for my uncle, as he trained them for working cattle dogs)
My litter of those were also born bobbed tailed..
