What cities are close by that I could possibly look at? I checked expedia & orbita for tickets to Yonkers & Newark. But I need a city close enough that I could ride the sunway into Manhattan for New Year's. Thanks!

Weehawken, NJ - Sheraton Suites @ Lincoln Harbor. Just a few feet in front of hotel is the ferry pick up to Midtown (W.39th St & 12th Ave) it's less than a 10min ride over. Once you arrive in NYC, you are entitled to free shuttle buses which are in front of the ferry terminal anywhere into the city. You either get discounted tickets or free passes @ the hotel concierge. The company is NY Waterway and their shuttles can take you to Rockefeller Center, Radio City (if you purchase tickets to the show, you ride FREE). Children 12 & under ride FREE from thanksgiving day to January 7th. You can also go to Chelsea Piers, Empire State Building, Toys R Us @ Times Square, American Girl Place. They are also offering a New Year's Eve cruise. It's a safe and easy way to get to NYC - I even take my 2 year old on it as well so you know you're in good hands. Check it out! Call them - ask for Jessica!

Some NJ cities have the Path Train that goes into NYC. Jersey City and Hoboken are the closest. Newark is a little farther.

Have you checked Brooklyn or Bronx out? They have the subway and should be a bit cheaper than Manhattan...

You should still look at New York City, but look at hotels outside of Manhattan.

Other nearby cities in New Jersey would be - Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken

I don't know that you would find many decent hotels in the Bronx, but there are some nicer ones close to LaGuardia Airport in Queens and you can get to the subway pretty easily from there.

I-495 & US 1 & 9
North Bergen, NJ 07047 US
Phone: 201-348-3600
$195.00 per night, there's a bus stop right in front that takes you right through the Tunnel and drops you off at the Port Authority

Go to NJ where the new jersey railroad is at. It takes you right into NYC.
