Of course it was. I am from texas and it was most open form of illegal immigration in history. But the historians will never say so, they will tell you about some bull that the mexicans where not really using it so it was free to claim. Bull, and they know it, and no I am not mexican. I am just keeping it real. And no they had no right to ask, basically they didn't and thats when you get the alamo. The people of america at that time didn't take no for an answer so they just took what they wanted by force. I would of love it because you know what at the time that mexico had texas and california THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS SLAVERY. So I guess you can blame america for the creation and the ending of slavery.

The 1800's saw the end of the spanish empire in the americas, and the establishment of the american territories. The US-Mexico war, 1846-48, drew the border line pretty much as you see it today. The Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo was signed in Mexico City, after the fall/surrender of the Mexican army. All territories seized by the United States south of the borderline were then returned to Mexico...now, though, there's some people that've started on this 'you stole our land' kick, problem is, both countries are now pretty much fully inhabited, and that kind of leads to the bigger issue of global population. Illegal immigration isn't just an issue on the american continent, it's a global issue.

Brilliant work Lundstroms2004 ! Please ALSO note, that those individuals were LEGAL new Mexican citizens having PAID the Mexican government for the registration of land grants, entry to the country, and citizenship. The Mexican government was actively soliciting assistance in settling that area.
Texas (Tejas) seceded from Mexico in 1836, and existing as a separate Republic for 10 years before joining the United States. Texas seceded when the Mexican Napoleon (Gen. Santa Anna) abolished the Mexican Constitution... forming a central dictatorship. Mexico also required the conversion of any persons in Texas to Catholicism.
ALL Legal residents of a state have the right to SOLICIT their elected State Legislature to secede from the United States... but the Mexican Government's attempt to negate the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo (1848) is an act of War... and those actively seeking to usurp the sovereignty of the United States are guilty of treason (if US citizens) and sedition if residents.

Id love to see them try.Don't be ridiculous. This is almost 2007 why do people like to bring up the past ?.This is the here and now and not the then and was.No body is taking over any state in this nation. This is the USA and it shall always be the USA all of it ,not part of it.Maybe if you came into the modern time thinking then you would see the ignorance in this. The majority in this nation are legal law abiding Americans ,not criminals that want to impose conditions of a couple of hundred years ago on this nation.Like I said Id like to see some group try it.They would be crushed by the military so quick ,they wouldn't know what hit them.Trust me its not a "good "idea.

Do you think the Mexicans who took Texas from the Indians to begin with were illegal immigrants?
That is how all countries got land back then. Unless you are suggesting Mexico wants to fight a war with the US for Texas, California, etc., I don't see how it buys you anything.
Besides, if it were still Mexico, the illegals would just go further north. They are trying to get OUT of Mexico.

They are in the present day families of Texas. And back them they JOINED the united states. They were not part of the states. They brought the struggling nation of Texas to the U.S. I Think You are leading up to a modern day take over of one of our southern boader states and decelaring it`s self a sovergn nation. Possible, but nrt likely. I think the U.S. would wake up out of it`s slumber and kick them back south of the boarder. I do not hate the hispanics, It`s just out of control and our nation has it`s head in the sand. Our government will not listen to it`s opwn people. We have said loud and clear we want illegal imigration stopped Let`s continue to allow the 7percent that do work in crops come over on a guest worker program and stop the rest. Taxes are killing us.

They revoked their American citizenship, bought land from the Mexican government, and became citizens of Mexico. When Santa Anna came to power, he abused his power, considering himself "The Napoleon of the West." His imperial attempts compelled Texans to file grievances, to which he responded with force. This compelled the Texans to rebel.
The majority of Texans that fought in the rebellion were not gringos, they were brown. Know your history before you let hatred blind you.
I do believe in the War between the States that we settled the whole secession issue. Remember, brown and black Americans fought on both the side of the north and the south in the war.

Mr Lundstrom, your view of history is little White-washed. Just by you saying, Santa Ana declared himself "Napoleon of the West" . totally untrue. That what Americans called him, American knew about European History, Texas was West of USA. So the rest of your statement has no credibility

I think that all depends on whether or not Mexico had an immigration policy in place.

They were invited to immigrate--even had grants of land set aside ...
Mexico got bent out of shape because of the slavery question. (They had just gotten independence from Spain, (1821), and were adverse to slavery.
2nd question: read my recent blurb on Aztlan 2-3 days ago.
