The recipes for molten chocolate cake that I looked up call for unsalted butter.

All baking recipies call for unsalted unless they say "salted butter" then you use it. I personally will use salted when baking but if the recipie calls for salt by itself then I just dont add as much salt because the butter already has some. Hope this helps. Unless you bake all the time it's pretty uncommon to have both types of butter on hand.

I always use unsalted for baking anything sweet, and either unsalted or half-the-salt for cooking or buttering bread, etc...

If you have to use salted butter for baking sweets, leave out the salt in the recipe. (there is usually a half teaspoon of salt or so, even in cookie and cake recipes.)

Use unsalted unless the recipe specifically asks for salted. However, if you don't have unsalted and you don't want to go out and buy it use the salted, it won't really change anything, I've done it a zillion times.

Always use unsalted butter in your recipes, unless it calls for salted butter. Your dry mixture will more than likely have salt in it, or baking powder, etc. Using salted butter can alter the outcome of your recipe. I hope it turns out.

The professional chefs say unsalted, but to tell the truth I can't tell that much difference. I certainly don't try to keep two kinds of butter at all times.
They say the reason for unsalted is that it is easier to tell if the butter has turned rancid. That isn't a problem nowadays with our good refrigerated distribution system.

If the recipe isn't specific when dealing with a recipe that already calls for salt, use UNSALTED. otherwise you may end up with an over salted dessert or dish.

use salted which is the most common salt brings out the sweet flavor of the chocolate better than unsalted will it also triggers and enhances some of the other more subtle flavors as that that is why it is the most popular version of butter

If you want to have an unique taste, use salted but if you are very sensitive in taking good care of your health, then choose the unsalted.
