BE PATIENT!
The lil guy is going through a huge transition. Trust is very difficult for a cat if it was abused prior. If it really is struggling that bad he may have been abused. If not sounds like you have a fickle guy. I have one that is really fickel and she decides when she wants attention and when she doesn't. We just adopted a 4 month old and he's all over us. Just depends on it's personality.

Be patient. Build trust and just keep showing affection through your voice and through your actions. Try a soft kitty treat to try to make him come to you as well.
Good luck.

Sounds like you are doing the best thing but you may need to accept some cats are just like that. I have owned many cats over the years. I adopted one who had been feral for many years and seriously mistreated and he was the friendliest most cuddly cat you can imagine. Sadly he died of leukemia early this year but not before he had befriended a tiny kitten, Benji. Benji arrived in our garden at a few weeks old. He has always been fed, loved, cared for, and never been mistreated but he still runs a mile when we try and pick him up. That's cats for you.

Be patient, and let the cat come to you. Give him a reward when he does - a little treat to eat, maybe. Don't do it a lot, but let him learn that when he comes to you, he gets something that he likes. You can try a little bit of catnip, but a lot of kittens don't get attracted to it until they're older, I'm told. If he ignores it, put it away for 6 months, and try it then.

Also, play with him. Strings are great and cheap. Tie something to the end of a string if you like, and drag it along for him to attack and play with. This helps him get exercise, too.

Give your kitten time and space. He's probably really scared of you. I put my kitten Izzy in a spare room with her bed, food, water, litter and toys. Then I'd go sit in the room whenever I had the chance, and just do my own thing. She gradually became less jumpy around me, then let me stroke her and by the fourth day she just climbed right into my lap and went to sleep there. :) It was very gratifying.

Of course, when I called my husband to see, he told me she'd been crawling into his lap for naps by day two! And boy was I jealous about that!

Remember cats have distinct personalities, and they have personal preferences. You can't force a relationship with them.

Give him time, he'll come around. My kitten took about 5 days to get brave enough to come out of her room! (And its a small room.) Now she walks around the house like she owns the place.

you picked the wrong animal if you want it to act the way you expect it to. Cats are very independent and some just don't like to be picked up. That doesn't mean they don't like you, it's just a part of their "personality". Think about being that size and being chased around by a giant cat all the time because it wants to pick you up.

dont rush into it... my kitten was that way and she still is to an extent. some cats just dont care for being held. try sitting on the floor and letting him come to you, or playing with him. remeber he is a kitten, as he gets older he may settle down. go toward him slowly and dont move to quick. and give him time, 3 days isnt that long!

Confine him in a small room or crate with food, water, toys and litter box. When he is well socialized then allow him the run of the house.

He is just scared to death and then by not being use to you he just freaks out.

Was your kitten owned previously? B/c he/she could have been abused. Or was the place you got him bad, as mean people?
Good Luck
