Not only from oral. Straight-forward kissing can lead to problems if one is unlucky. Many years ago I developed quinsy through snogging the wrong girl, and had to get my tonsils out as a result.
It wasn't worth it.

Think you must have already had a sore throat before you had oral!! Unless you have had it deep deep throat!! No you must have had the infection beforehand.

Yes you most certainly can. All the nasty STD's you can catch through sex, you can also catch through oral sex. Anything that involves the passing of bodily fluids.

You might consider getting tested for gonorrhea, honestly. I've given quite a bit of dome, but I never had a sore throat.

Wrong spelling: sorethroat!. Yes oral sex is a high risk factor for pharyngitis (whether bacterial or fungal).
