What now? Do I take a break or keep at it? It's not an injury, just tenderness from walking too much.

Your legs are sore due to lactic acid build up. Lactic acid is the byproduct given off when muscles work. It happens all the time in the body, but the amount increases more (of course) when we exercise. Oxygen removes lactic acid. That's why our breathing increases when we exercise, or exert ourselves. It tends to happen more often, and last longer in people who aren't used to exercising. Building muscle and losing weight aren't the only benefits of exercise. Your lungs, heart, and vasculature (veins and arteries) also become more efficient. That's why you experience less fatigue and soreness as you keep exercising and your workout becomes easier.

Yes, you should take a day or two off from your exercise. Give your system a chance to excrete that built up lactic acid. One of the best, and most enjoyable ways to ease the soreness, is to take a long hot soak in a bath mixed with epsom salts. It's really cheap and sold in any drug store or Wal-Mart. You'll feel incredibly better the very next day. Then get back to working out. It'll get easier and a lot less painful.

You shouldn't exercise the same part of your body every day. Every other day is better. The reason for that is to give your muscles a chance to repair themselves, dissipate the lactic acid buildup from using them, and to restore their energy.

Aleve works very well as a pain reliever.

the best way to get rid of soreness quickly is get back in the gym. u dont have to go to the extent u went yesterday...take it slow. but working out again will untighten some of the muscles and help u from being so sore.

I would just leisure for a day and get back at it. You pushed yourself and went over that plateau which is an effective factor. Anguish is handiest weak point leaving the physique. Maintain rough at it and you'll be able to see and believe robust outcome even rapid.

Take a break. Your muscles need time to heal. Letting muscles heal is just as important as beatting them up.
