Baby showers?
know what babyshowers are for the baby but is it wrong to think that a mother should get something that caters to just them. I know that the gifts are for you but is more catered to your baby is it selfish to want something that is just for you. This is just question i was just thinking. not my own personal views

I always thought a baby shower is to welcome the baby and congratulate the mom-to-be. I dont think it is selfish at all. I got roses for my neice when she was pregnant and for my sister, we got her some jammies. Something simple is fine I think - not like atrip to the bahamas or anything like that.

a baby shower is supposed to be for the baby, usually the mom does end up getting something jsut for her which sometimes ends up leaving the dad out. When I go to baby showers if both parents are still together I make sure I get them both something along with the baby. That way the dad feels like he is involved too. The mom shouldnt expect anything and she shouldnt ask for things for her but, she will usually end up getting things too. It is selfish to ask. I have 4 kids and and every baby shower I always got things too. I never asked I only had things for the baby registered.

I don't see anything wrong with getting the mother something small.I mean she is the one carrying the baby around and the pushing it out of her vagina.A small gift wouldn't be so bad.My sister got me a bubble bath set.
Shoby your an idiot.A SHOWER is to shower a newborn baby with gifts. Yeah you spend money but if you didn't have a shower you would buy present's for the baby anyways right.Who cares if people want to get together and celebrate it as a group.

It's not WRONG but it would not be proper etiquette to ask for something for yourself. I always get a gift for baby and then a little something for mom to pamper herself with. If I am low on money and can't afford two gifts I give a certificate printed that I have made on my computer for a free afternoon out, or she can take a nap and I'll watch baby.

Well, basically you are getting everything. You are getting all the stuff you will need for the baby, so this is saving you the expense of buying the loads of things that babies need. And, in the end, you are getting something, a wonderful little bundle. If there are any one people that thing it is right to be jealous that the "baby" gets everything, get used to it, it has only just begun......

Baby showers aren't just for babies anymore...moms are as important and in need of some pampering as well so if someone brings a gift that is for mom? It will ultimately be for baby too, happy moms are able to cope better with fussy babies. Definitely, mom gifts are perfectly fine to mix up with all babies gifts

OK, first of all, baby showers aren't ridiculous commercializations...gee whiz, anyone who has had a baby knows how expensive it is. Showers are a nice way to accumulate the items you need.

One thing mom needs is a little pampering. You deserve it, becoming a mommy is not an easy task. Plus, you will be at your best with your little one when you feel good.

You can get gifts anytime. Birthday, Christmas Valentines Day, etc. but having a baby is a special occassion and that baby is only born once. Don't be jealous.
