The trick is 20 minutes to the pound in 350 degree oven. But I always cover it with foil until the last hour. Then cover the legs and wings only so the skin will crisp up. It usually takes less time than the above. Enjoy yer turkey!

The reccomended cooking time is around 20 minutes per pound, or for around four hours or so. But that should be a completely thawed bird. And you would want to put a meat thermometer into the bird and check for doneness--which should be around 170 degrees Fahrenheit. This is for roasting a bird in a 325 degree oven. Another method is to put the bird in a roasting pan with water and to place the bird in a slack oven (275 degrees), covered until done. This, of course, take a bit longer, but some people will put a bird in their oven overnight--placing the bird in around bedtime and pulling it out very early in the morning. This method doesn't really have a set time, but you will certainly know if the turkey is done if the meat appears to be falling off. This method is used by those who intend to make dumplings with the broth.

Bake at 325 degrees without stuffing (recommended) 15 minutes/pound, or about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. With stuffing, 20 minutes/pound, or about 4 hours.
