My friend is flying to the US. Can he legally bring me back a botle of bacardi 151 in his luggage? are there other costs involved (other than just buying it in teh store)?

If I buy a bottle from a shop in england it will cost me 80 pounds if I get if from the US it could be as little as $20.

Chance it!!!!!!! Your friend needs to wrap the bottle in a towel and place it in the middle of his/her suitcase. Tell him to walk confidently through the "Nothing To Declare" section when exiting the airport.

If he got stopped well hey it's not the crime of the century is it? Pay any excess to your friend if in the unlikely event he did get stopped.

Buy a big bottle of mineral water, tip all contents out and fill up with the old bacardi 151. Handy too for your friend cos he will be able to take a crafty swag on the airoplane without anyone realising just what an old alcho he is.

While there are restrictions on items you can carry on board, your friend should be able to bring this back in his checked luggage.

Additional costs involved would include any applicable UK tax or duty for imported items.

Buy it at the Airport in the US and keep the reciept to show where it was bought, it is "Duty Free" and one bottle is below the limit. Now you are good to go.

Tell him not to bring it as carry on.
If he is worried about tax etc.. then if he opens the bottle and takes a swig it will be OK....
But tell him not to drink to much!
