The lower back is the best place for a woman to get a tattoo In my opinion. That's where my one and only tat is. Its a very feminine spot for a woman to have one.
It does not hurt very much near the spine, its the fattier parts that hurt more, like the sides, not by the spine.

I'm not trying to be rude, but why would you get a tattoo of your own name??
Do you think you're going to forget it?
And do butterflies mean something to you? Because they're an awfully popular tattoo, and chances are there will be about a million other people out there with the same tattoo.
So just think carefully about what you want. Don't get one just "because." This is going to be permanent.
Also, I've found that tattoos on the fatty parts of my body hurt just as much, if not more, than ones I've had done on my back where it's bony.

I have a tattoo on my lower back. I think it's a nice place, some others my think it's not. The tattoo on the lower back doesn't hurt much. I recently got one on my foot and that was painful. Butterfly is a cute idea, just don't put your name on your back.

Either your lower back or on your shoulder by the shoulder blade. I have mine on the shoulder bade. Also above a breast. A butterfly is pretty in any of those places. I have 3 tattoos and I love everyone of them. I got the first one in high school. The next one when I was 49 and the last one when I was 51. I don't care what others think about them. It is my body and I like the ones I have. They each have a special meaning to me and they all have something to do with my husband. I didn't want anyone to see my first one so I had it put on my ankle so I could cover it with socks. It is on the inside of my ankle,

Hey, I am just going to be honest with you. i have no problem with tattoos. if you want one get one. but the lower back butterfly tattoo is the most common tattoo out there. It is nothing special.A tattoo should make a statement about who you are. I think if your going to permemenatly define yourself it should not be that you are generic. Think hard about what you want. It will be with you (unless removed) for the rest of your life. dont be generic.

Put it where you want it if you what it on the the neck or on the lower back. It really dosent matter at all. You are the one that decides, not me or some guy two block down on the right that lives witch three cats and 1 bird. It hurts if your fat or skinny.

If you like the spot, then it is a good place to get a tattoo.
If you are worried about being called a tramp or someone not liking it, then you shouldn't get the tattoo. You could also try near a hip bone or on a butt cheek if you want something well hidden.
Do what YOU like and you'll be fine.

Lower back (especially kidney areas) is a tough place to get a tattoo...painful moreso than elsewhere on the body. Ankle area might not be bad, back of calf is a little tender...a discreet area...upper shoulder area (back) in a place where clothing usually covers anyway. Unless you were sleeveless thin strap tops, this area might be the best

My friend has one there and its looks very good, she is also skinny but she said that it didn't hurt as much as she thought it was going to.
Also I know people that have tattoo's on there upper arms, on their backs or over their navels.
Remember a tatto is a personal thing to you, so you should put it where you want to, so that you can show it or not show it off as you see fit

I have 11 tattoos and the place it hurt the worse was my wrists. They swell up real nice. I'm 5'8" and 122 lbs and it didn't hurt on the lower back. If you need to get your name tho, may I suggest your hand, that way you'll always know who you are.
