NO! What you need to do is fill the sink with cold water, drop the turkey in, let it thaw that way. You must change the water every 1/2 hour.

My mom always and still does, thawed the turkey in the kitchen sink without any water. And we're all still living so it can't be that bad. I thaw all my meat in the sink. I know thats not what they say on the packaging but it will thaw quicker. Just keep an eye on it and don't put it in front of a window so the sun isn't beating down on it

Unless your planning to cook it today give it one more day refrigerator time it should be thawed out by then. Even if it isn't you just give it a tad more cooking time.
I usually make my turkey the day before and we cut it up and put it on a platter tonight so that tomorrow everything is just reheated and it saves a ton of time on Thanksgiving you can actually enjoy the meal!

Never let it set out at room temterature for any extended time. The safest way is to place it in your sink under cold water and keep replacing it with fresh cold water as the water warms. This is a fast safe way and the cold water thaws it faster than in the refrigerator, which is the safest way.

You can leave your turkey out for a little while, but I would put a cover on it. This will keep out bacteria. You can also place it in a clean sink and run a little water on it. Also, there is a turkey hot line to call. It may be listed on your package.

turkey is best if thawed out slowly in the refrigerator - but if you are running out of time it came be thawed more quickly at room temperature - but whatever you do - make sure that it is fully thawed before you cook it.

Most people say don't put it out at room temperature - it is not a safe method. Keep it wrapped in original packaging and immerse it in cold water for about 10 minutes per pound.
