When i tried to put salt on a slug it only killed him,but do you have to wait a while before it melts?

Slugs do not have a protective outer covering or shell to prevent the salt absorbing the moisture from their skin and body. And as we know, sodium chloride is a very active osmotic molecule. Salt dries slugs due to osmosis.

I think that salt draws the water (dehydrates) out of them.

If you skin a favourite friend, then cover him/her in salt you will find a similar effect.

It doesn't melt them it dehydrates them
