The attitude works like this. I already know the truth so why would I listen to untruths.

This arrogance effectively isolates the believer within the christian delusion with no way to get alternative views.

The name Christian was born during the time of the Roman Empire, it was inputed to them becasue of alliance with Jesus Christ. They were called BELIEVERS then, a more correct term implying believers of Jesus (The way, the truth, and the life).

However, in the old testament, religion was not fully emphasized, Custom, belief, and traditons were more visible than religion. and this customs, traditons and belief compact into one and became religion (Zionist or Jewish)

God warned the Israelites (before crossing the jordan river) not to learned the custom, belief and tradition (religion) of the people they are going to encounter in the promised land which God had promised to them.

In the new testament, Jesus warned his people not to submit to false religion (meaning to say to learned them). Why? Because God did not create religion, but build a church for the save in the name of Jesus Christ his only begotten son.

I can not give you the exact biblical passages because it will take must time before i could answer this question of yours.

- There is nothing wrong with hearing a generalized overview of the many different belief systems of people but we are warned against getting too far into them.

- In the Bible;

Ephesians 4:1-16 ( pay particular attention to verse 14) &
Also, the account of King Solomon's life are just a couple of examples of the problems with allowing ourselves to become influence by false doctrines.

No, nothing prevents us Christians from learning about our neighbors' religions. I'm sure for many of us, part of the reason we come here and to other sites like this is to learn from those who practice other beliefs (there are some nuts here, but there are also those, such as yourself, who well-portray their religion).

I don't know what I am called,I believe in God and Christ and the Holy spirit,But not entirely with the Bible.I met a man who was reading the Koran trying to learn his faith better,I asked him a few questions because I don't understand everything.He was polite enough to show me and that gave me a different outlook it seems to me God is God ,everyone perceives in their own way his name and his teachings,and who here has actually the correct answer,its all about your inner faith individually.

No there is nothing preventing us from learning about the religions of others. In fact, in our church group, we study other religions so as to better understand them.

I have studied some of the other major religions. I am also teaching a little on this. I don't think Christianity forbids us from learning about others, but we aren't to follow it.

Non Christians: Is anything in [your sacred texts] preventing you from learning anything about your neighbors' religion? Tolerance goes both ways, or else it's just patronizing.
