yes, it is. Albeit not as much as it should be it appears.

(that 'to many' is actually a grammatical error, lol)

I think text talking has a lot to do with it... that really p*ss' me off.

There's probably going to be some chimp who says 'thats why God invented the spell checker' thats another big problem, when I was in school, none of that, if you spelt something wrong you had to look it up in the dictionary and then write it out 5 times for the teacher...

ahhh good days.

Yes, it a very worrying sign of the way society is heading. The grammer is appalling too. Makes you wonder if spelling has been totally dropped from the curriculum doesn't it? Thing is, its not as though there isn't a spell check on this site!

Yes, it's taught - but obviously not very well!

Unfortunately, although it is taught better these days again, the example of bad spelling is in front of the youngsters all the time. As is bad grammar. It's harder for them to learn when their parents etc. do it wrong.

Yes it is but with all this text talk I fear children will not remember the real words.
I was speaking to me my step daughter on MSN the other night and I could not understand what she was saying at all! everything is abbreviated.
What is going on!

Judging from what I read here, I'd say "no". Everybody here seems to be hooked on phonics.

Nobody knows what that "Check Spelling" button above the answer box does, either.
