It does seem like a nerve problem, probably compression of a nerve(s). Do not strain your back. Complete bed rest, OTC medication to relieve the pain and consult the doc asap. A CT/MRI would be needed to confirm.
Hope that helps

Much better if you really see a doctor, but i think that has something to do with your nerve, spinal cord and what do they call the disc in our back, they can see your problem through diagnostic examination such as CT SCAN,MRI or even X- ray, there are some pain relievers that you can take to lessen the pain that you experience ask you doctor about it.

Hopefully just muscle.
Try taking a long hot bath and that should help ease the muscle pain. Other than that you should be able to find someone to come and give you a massage which also might help.

I have 5 herniated disks and arthritus in my back. But at times I have a pain that I desribe just like you in the same places. I am told it is stres or a pinched nerve. I put my heating pad on my back and it usually does the trick for a little while.

I have two herniated discs. Three surgeons wanted to operate, but I avoided it. I started doing yoga and it has helped incredibly. As long as I do it regularly, I don't have any problems. I started by taking some classes, but now do it at home with DVDs. It also helps with firming up the middle, flexibilty, and relaxation.

sounds like muscles, definitely.
try a hot shower with the water massaging the affected area.
stress could also be a big factor...find a way to relax...hot milk and classical music, a funny movie, something that makes you feel better emotionally.
and a couple of handfuls of advil!
hope you feel better soon!
