There are soooooooooo many stories in the bible that i love. but one of my favorite stories would have to be when Jesus died on the cross though its graphic it shows how much He loves us and shows what He did so our sins can be forgiven. and another would have to be the prodigal son because that story is the only story that shows God running to his lost son. very touching story that i love very much but there are plenty more stories that are my favorite.

I love the story of the `Prodigal Son` what a merciful God we have indeed, this story came straight from the wisdom and heart of Christ and is the hope of all who think that they will never be worthy or acceptable to God.
I like the fact that Jesus included the older brother who was so sanctimonious that he regarded the younger as beneath contempt, and was gently rebuked for his lack of love and compassion, how many unbearably pious people still have this attitude to others even today, and would bar others from a relationship with the Lord on the grounds that they are of little value.

I'm a big fan of the story of Job, which is a book I have read over and over and over. If I was to tell the story without reading from the Bible, I would read John Piper's telling of it through his amazingly eloquent poem. Here's the link to Part 1 of his Job poem. You can probably find the rest of the poem from the link as well: http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/NarrativePoems/ByDate/1386_Job_Part_1/

As to the incredibly short version of the story:
Job, the most righteous man on the face of the earth in his day, received special notice from Satan because of his piety. God allowed Satan to attack his possessions, kill his children, and afflict him physically. However, Job remained faithful to God. Then Job's friend's came to "help" him and rebuked him saying that he must have some secret sin which brought on his suffering. Job stood firm amidst the insults, but became discouraged and began questioning God. God then answered his questions with an amazing barage of "who are you to question me? If you're so wonderful, where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth, etc." Job was then humbled and restored to God and after this lesson was learned God blessed him even more than He had prior to everything being taken away.

The short version misses A LOT, but that's it in a nutshell.

My favorite story is the story of Jonah and the whale, because it contradicts the idea of free will. Jonah refused to do what God asked of him, and so God torchured him and everyone around him. Jonah told the his ship mates to throw him overboard to his death, and God instead keeps him alive and torchures him for 3 more days bathed in the intestinal acids of the whale then spit him out in the kingdom where Jonah was to deliever his message. Jonah had no choice, there is no choice.

I cannot add anything to the bible since its wrong to do so but i'll say this that anythime i read the book of Job it is soul searching. Job never knew about the issues involved in his keeping integrity yet he held fast to his faith in God. Even with three false friends, a wife who was supposed to stand by him, yet Job never wavered, and God blessed him for this
