Lesson #1:
Who is Allah? What is Islam?
Who are the Muslims?
What do Muslims believe?
How does one enter Islam?
=========================================================
Who is Allah? Allah is the creator. The only one. He created all around us in beauty and perfection. He begets not, nor was He begotten, And there is none comparable to him. Muslims use the word Allah in Arabic because it is a special word (it has no plural nor gender. Ie God, Godess, Gods), it means The only worthy of worship. Jesus (Pbuh) used a similar word in Arameic Ellah (or Allah) when referring to God.
What is Islam? Islam is a way of Life "Not a religion". It is the path Choosen by God for all those who believe in him. Islam litterally means Submission.
Who are the Muslims? The Muslims are the people who submit to God. In arabic the prefix Mu means that some action is taken, in english we use the postfix "er". In english you have the word walk, a person who walks is a Walker. Similarly In Arabic Muslim is the one who Submits his/her will to Allah.
What do Muslims believe? In God (Allah)
In his Angels
In His Messengers (From Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, ..... Jesus to Muhammed, PBUT)
In his Books ( The Torah, The bible, The Quran, etc)
In the Last Day
In divine Pre-destination (Everything happens for a reason)
How does one enter Islam? Simple bear witness by heart and by tongue that there is no God but God and Muhammed is his messenger! No special ceremony of any kind :)

The most important belief is that the is only one God who is the God , the Creator, the giver of life to all of the universe. God's qualities are great and the best. God is the Most Kind, the Most Generous, the Most Compassionate, the Almighty, the Giver of Live, the Giver of Death, the Most Loving, the Greatest, the Highest, the most Subtle, the Most Compelling, the Infinite, the one who lives without rest or sleep, God is the most unique unlike anything created in the universe, the Most Pure, the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Majesty, The All-knowing, The All-hearing, the All-seeing, etc. God is the God of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them). "The God" in Arabic is Allah and the Holy book was revealed in Arabic. Arabic is the language all people will speak in the afterlife. One must know and understand who God is in Islam to be a true Muslim. This belief is summerized in the words: La illaha illallah which means, There is no god but The God (Allah). The completion of this is to testify that Muhammad is the Last Messenger of God. Then to obey God is to obey the teachings of Muhammad (peace be upon him)
hope this helps. peace

Muslim belief is that mohamed was given the Quran/Koran and that islam is the last religion god told us to follow now if u r a muslim u must believe in all the prophets but instead of jesus being the son of god we say he is a prophet and he is like any normal person. muslims r not allowed to imagine that god is a male or female or that he is acloud in other words we can't make an image of god. muslims r not allowed 2 eat pork, drink (although many do), smoke and much more. as muslims we have 2 follow 5 piligrams, which r fasting on hte month of ramadhan(which is when the Quran/ Koran was released to mohammed) it depends on the moon when it is ramadhan, go 2 makkah/mecca if u have enough money 2 do so, pray 5 times a dayand i forgot the rest i'll tell u next time. the prophet mohammed said that the best muslims r those who learn the Quran/Koran by heart and teach it 2 others. i hope u like my answer it is long but yeah.

It should not matter whether a woman is on her menstruation cycle or not and I find it backwards when a man does not shake hands with a woman just because she is not a Muslim. In Islam, in a Muslim society, a Muslim man never shakes hands with a Muslim woman. The only exception to this general rule is when a woman is a close relative to the man. Menstruation. Islam prohibits women from praying and fasting during their menstruation. Some Muslims will consider her unclean others will not. Muslim women are generally quite restricted when compared to both Christian and non-Christian women in the West. Such Muslim women living in traditional Muslim societies have very few if any rights to which men commonly avail themselves. It is really a "man's world" in Muslim society.
