The hanging pendant, is for interior lighting, but I just don't know if it's okay to put in a bedroom with high ceilings. Wanted something different, and didn't know if that would be too much.

it extremely is available, in case you have an attic above the mattress room, and it extremely is confusing. First ascertain the place you elect the fan to bypass. Drill a small hollow in the ceiling there, and push a stiff rapidly piece of twine up into the attic. A twine coat hanger works stable. Then upward push up in the attic and discover the twine. clean out the insulation to divulge the ceiling sheetrock. hint a steel ceiling fan field around the place the twine got here by way of, and decrease out the hollow. deploy some 2x4 bracing, related to the joists, to assist the field and fan. Now the actual exciting starts. discover the applicable of the wall above the swap you elect to regulate the fan. Drill a one million/2 to 5/8 hollow for the time of the applicable plates, as on the element of direclty above the swap as available. Then kill the circuit that controlls the swap. eliminate the conceal and pull the swap as some distance out of the field as available. eliminate between the tabs from the applicable of the field. If it grew to become right into a fifteen amp circuit breaker or fuse controlling the swap, you will elect 14 gage twine. For a 20 amp breaker, use 12 gage twine. Your going to could desire to fish the twine for the time of the hollow you made above the swap, down interior the wall, and into the field the place you bumped off the tab. it particularly is mandatory to purchase or borrow a fish tape for this. the different end of the twine will bypass to the field the place you elect the fan. connect white, black and floor(bare twine) to the applicable terminals on the swap. Hook up the fan in accordance to the instructions that contain it. turn the capacity decrease back on, and you're able to desire to be arranged. in case you have not have been given an attic, you could the two decrease into the ceiling to run the wires or use conduit to run the wires on the exterior of the wall and ceiling, and floor mount the field to the ceiling. in basic terms ascertain the field is securely anchored to a joist. If the field isn't securely fixed you threat haveing the fan come crashing down onto despite is under it.

I've installed many as alternatives, in my ex wifes house even. In my opinion they are an upgrade. I don't like the flush mount ceiling fixtures anyway, and the "chandelier" type come in sooo many very upscale designs.

I'm also not much of a fan,,,(no pun intended) of ceiling fans. In my experience (I have one in every room) they are largely inefficient. AND,,, Fans don't cool rooms,,, they are designed to "cool" people. Beyond the fact that,,, in my opinion again,,, they are bulky, and offensive to have to look at.

It's your home. Do what YOU love. A chandelier would be lovely, or any other type of lighting. Just be sure it isn't so low that someone would bump their heads on it.
