Well their tentacles represent rudimentary Noodly Appendages and they seem to love giving pirate ships a good hug once in a while.

PS: I think its a sign of His Noodly Appendages that Yahoo Answers automatically categorize this question under Religion and Spirituality.

Octapi and Squid are underwater animals, the flying Spaghetti Monster is an air breather. Their noodly appendages may be simlar looking, but serve completely different functions. They are not realated.

I don't think squid and octopi are related to His Noodliness, who is pasta based anyway.

I think that they are shaped that way as more evidence our beloved spag-deity is the only true God. The fact thay like to hug pirate ships just goes to show how sacred Pirates are to the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

May you be touched by his Noodly Appendage.

Therefore the squid and the octopus are holy; none of the believers should eat them.

I am going to say "holy octopus!" instead of "holy cow!" now.

Thank you, reverend!

I wanna be a good pirate when I grow up.
