I just heard on the radio that 3 under cover police were killed by a 92 year old woman before they killed her. they were doing a drug bust and apparently it was case of mistaken identity. Any police want to respond? Come on she was 92 for gosh sakes. Mistaken identity? I think not!! This happened in Georgia!!

Mistaken identity on the part of the officers or the 92 year old granny? You have to give a little more information than that in order to get some kind of intellgent response to your need for justifying your dissatisfaction with something you were not a part of. Tell me more and I'll give you some type of answer although I would insist you find out more information than just what you are getting from a news story before you make decisions about anyones actions....Police or otherwise!

how many times have you read where the cops have broken down a door and shot some one like the cop in L,A, who shot a 5 year old kid , he came down the hall way with a cap gun after the cops broke down their door, "mistaken Identity"?? the nine boys in black have ruled that busting a door in with no warning is legal??? why would they do such a thing???? and even tho it is o,k, under the law the cops should have enough respect for their fellow citizen to knock first and give the people enough time to answer the door,,no these bastards want to play gang busters and show how tough they are it sure takes a tough one to need 50 other armed cops to take out one 5y,o, or a 90 y.o.what about the L,A. P.D. breaking down the door to a old couples home at 3A,M when the old man reached for a gun they killed him," the sheriff wanted his land," no one has gone to jail for that either, there will be so called Mistaken identity murders until this law is repealed, how many innocent people must die before the public will wake up and say enough??? some people keep a gun handy for the purpose of protection as they damned sure need it mostly from the police, and even if not the police are not obligated to protect you even if they could, the court ruled this after the truck driver sued the police dept for not coming to his aid and there were about 100 cops within 100 feet, and fireman , civillians rescude the man.so what the hell is the police for ??just another big expense or to give traffic tickets to some one who accidentally runs a stop sign or speeds,

I live in the UK and our police are not armed. They therefore come up with other activities instead of knocking off pensioners. These are all real timewasters played by the police.

1. Car snooker. The driver and passenger take it in turns to pull over cars dependant on there color. If they make an arrest they get the points. 1 point for red 7 for black cars etcetc. The points system works by a reduction system starting at 20. The other normal rules of snooker apply.

2. Coasting. This is where the two policemen take it in turns to put the car innuetral and coast for as far as possible. This would be done from the top of a hill. My "contact" says he has covered 3 miles and is in 4th place at the station. There are loads more but that is the jist of it.

Taxes well spent

The 3 officers were wounded and survived. The 92 y/o grandmother is dead. Typical result of a shootout with the police. Mistaken identity? Probably not. Unfortunately, the details of the warrant were not publicized. I'd put money that it was the children and grandchildren living at the address that were selling drugs.

This is a really good question. I think the answers will vary with the crime rate of a particular neighborhood and the individual officer. I was born in a fairly high crime area where the police sometimes got a workout, have lived in a sleepy bedroom community where the local crime sheet recorded tortoises on the highway and somebody's pot-bellied pig rooting in the neighbor's yard, and am now in a big-city suburb where the police seem to exist to harass housewives that may be traffically errant and collect $$ from parking tickets. You could reasonably conclude the whole tortoise/pig gig is less stressful than the crack-house beat. What will a society pay in terms of freedom to get protection? What do we want protection from or for? What motivates someone to become a police officer in the first place? The answer to your question is tied up in the answers to these.

Police havea bad rep. because of the past practices of arrest and interogation procedures. Some police still abuse their authority and try to find ways to bend the rules.
Didn't hear about the 92 yr. old woman-wonder how much target shooting she did or was just lucky to shoot 3 police before being taken out herself.
We had a police shoot out here a couple of years ago,the police fired over 100 rounds at a suspect before it ended. There were bullet holes in buildings and parked cars from shots fired by the police.

If police get a bad reputation, it's because morons think that you can shoot the gun out of someones hand. It doesn't matter how old she was, she shot 3 cops. How much more justification do you need? Are the police only allowed to defend themselves against people of a certain age? Maybe they could have checked her identification and know how old she was...if she hadn't been shooting at them.

It's pretty funny that an ex-marine accuses cops of being trigger happy, tough guys. Didn't 7 marines kill 24 unarmed civilians, most of them women and children? It makes you wonder how many are there we don't know about.

Hey you have to watch them old ladies they're crafty. Ok, cops storm my house, a drug bust is usually done on kitty cat feet and then all hell breaks loose. Zoom in on granny, she's doing exaclty what so that she can get her hands on a weapon and shoot 3 officers. What is she an exmarine? I'd likely peed myself right off, and the weapons aren't beside my knitting, don't see the need to be locked and loaded while watching soaps.
Even with a mistaken identity the general public doesn't come out blasting. Mistaken identity, I think not either, the old crone is as guilty as sin.
