I'm not sure, but for someone to do evil things and still be good, it takes religion.

i would like to draw your attention to the parable of "prayer" Matthew 7:7-11. Your answer is in verse 11 where Jesus said "If ye, than being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him ?" This is not contridiction but plain truth, think about it ! we commit sin every day, which in God's eyes is evil, but we will go out & help feed the poor etc which is good. "Know by it's fruit" (Galatians 5:22-23) is the character of a born again true believer, which is produced by the Holy Spirit as we grow in his grace.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Without religion there would still be people who do good things and people who do evil things but It takes religion to make good people do evil things.
And of course some evil people might see the benefit in doing a few good things to achieve an evil end.

Sometimes evil can be the sweetest thing around, but thats what makes it evil, because although it appears sweet, it is deceptive and leaves a bitter aftertaste.
Basically evil people can do good things, but all the wrong reasons.

Yes, Hitler. A good example, and an evil person. He got Germany out of the depression, and the country back on its feet. He was also responsible for the death of millions of people.

Absolutely, it is the motive of one's heart that determines whether something is good or evil.

To be pleasing to God, whatever we do must be done in pursuit of His glory:
"Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31

If we do seemingly "good" things with selfish motives (it makes us feel good, others think highly of us, etc.), then it is evil and sinful.

Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God!

Serial killer Ted Bundy immediately comes to mind. He kidnapped, raped, brutalized, and slaughtered well over 35 women in a reign of terror that lasted throughout the '70's.

He worked as a counselor at a rape crisis center all the while.
