WE had many rainy days when the kids were young. This was the best thing I ever did and it kept the kids busy all afternoon. Get a big box and go through the kids toy chest right now. Put all the old mcdonald toys, some toys they don't play with anymore etc. Also go to garage sales...they have free boxes or very cheap little toys that they want to get rid of. Put the box in the basement or some place where the kids wont find it...and on a rainy day................take out the rainy day box. Hours of fun for them. We even would put videos that we had watched a lot in there.....seemed like an old friend when you took it out on a rainy day.

My kids always love water. Sometimes just putting them in the bath tub with bowls and different toys would keep them occupied.

If you kitchen floor is easy to clean, we'd blow bubbles in the kitchen.

They also loved obstacle course that we'd make up with pillows, throwing soft balls into different size bowls, crawling under a card table, climbing in and out of a laundry basket. Just about anything that gets them moving (and wearing them out).

My girlfriend has a box for everyday of the week. In each box she put one or two special activities. That way when they do get bored, you can get that box out and they don't get tired of doing the same thing over and over. Some of the activities may be learning, arts and crafts, silly games you make up, puppets. Use you imagination, Something as simple as sorting colored buttons would keep them busy for a while (don't leave them alone thought because of choking)

I hope some of this helps

You can go to OneStepAhead.com and buy those balls that you see a Chucky Cheese, the have the balls and the Pit it is i think like $35 not sure or you can just buy the balls and buy a small blow up pool or the cheap plastic ones that are always at wal-mart. My nephews have that and love it they throw them all out of the pool and into a kid size basket ball hoop. They also have a small tent that was on sale at Target that we got one day it was the new "Disney Cars" for like $5 they sit and play in that all the time. Sing song like Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes.... and Ring around the Rosie....just try to think what do kids do at day care???? I used to work at one and that is what we did.... Get colored paper with stickers and draw and put stickers all over the pages....Try to buy maybe a chalk board with big side walk chalk and let them draw on it....FINGER PAINT......LoL Kids love it....My nephews love to type on the computer we put it on Word Pad and put it on the BIG SIZE LETTERS and they just go to town... Buy some Computer games for there ages like Blues Clues ect. at Wal-mart....I would try the balls that I told you about and even a big card board box....What kid doesn't love a Box....~Have Fun~

Let's all create and 501 TV free Activities for kids....while you are getting those dont forget old favourites like building a cubby under the table, having an indoor picnic with the kids helping prep the food :-).

Finger puppet show with simple paper puppets?
Playing shop with groceries from your cupboards?
Dressing up in your old clothes....
Making 'dens' with an old sheet over the dining table?
I used to enjoy being allowed to wash my dolls tea set or dolls clothes in the big kitchen sink - but to kids not like that sort of thing anymore or maybe they are boys...
