Are you sure it was illegal? Depends what country you are in. They could have been on their way to court. Anyhow, it's like any job really isn't it. The police have so much paperwork to deal with, if it wasn't such a 'big deal' illegal manoeuvre why would they want to give themselves unnecessary work. Up the British Police - love them to bits.

Probably because you can't spell!!! Or maybe they just felt sorry for you. Next time, drive your car off the roadway and park in the grassy area right outside of the front door at Police Headquarters. Then jump out of your car, climb up to the roof of the car, and begin stripping all the while screaming 'They're coming to get me, they're coming to get me'. If you are in such serious need of police attention I'm sure you'll get it then.

Most likely answer From 'Jason' "Because police are not required to enforce minor crimes like misdemeanor traffic stops. They probably assumed that you were not aware of the proper procedure for the area so they decided to let you go since it wasn't major.

That aside... why are you complaining about NOT getting a ticket?"

I'd just be glad they didn't. But in more definitive terms, its called "Police descretion". The Police usually only have a duty to act if its a serious crime in which its a felony or includes "bodily Harm". Minor Misdemeanors are usually delt with by Police descretion. You, this morning, are a perfect example of this.

Better things to do perhaps. Maybe they were on their way to deal with something else - they don't always chase people or use blue lights.

Perhaps you illegal manouvere was just not worth bothering about! What was it anyway?

Because they were probably listening to the police scanner and were on their way to a more serious situation, and couldn't be bothered with your minor traffic violation at that moment.

the cops i've talked to about pulling people over say they don't like doing it because they have to get out of their car, file the paperwork. all of this is worse if it is cold outside, they are tired their shift is almost over or all of the above. i'm sure if you were like speeding too fast or something they would have pulled you over
