A baby is not an anchor. A US citizen child can not apply for their parents who are non citizens until they are 18 and over and must be able to prove an affidavit of support, which also prohibits the family from seeking public assistance for 5 years. If they can not pass a background check or have been deported they can fight the decision in Immigration Court. If there has been a previous deportation or they entered illegally, they can be punished with a 10 year penalty to not enter the country or, in the past pay a large penalty fee (for illegal entry)

No, having an anchor baby does not come with any entitlement for a "green card." However, the families of these babies will argue that "it's not fair" to send them and their American baby back to the 3rd world.
The anchor baby is entitled to WIC and Medicaid benefits amongst other things.

No they should not call them leach babies nor anchor babies, they are just babies. I think that illegals who have children here should NOT have a right to have a green card, why? well because they need to work hard to obtaining their resident status. But i do believe that it's not a right to have a green card but a privilege. But we have to look farther than just the resident card, those children are born as US CITIZENS and there fore if there parents are deported , where will those children end up? the children cannot be deported out of their own country. So I think that there should be a reform of some sort. but not because illegals decided that they want to have children here.
and as far as Arellano goes her son has never left the USA, he knows no other place. His mother wants him to stay here in the US to have a better life in his own country, but they have no family that he can stay with. so that is a big enough problem right there. I vote that Arellano can stay if she can prove that she does not need any kid of welfare, and she can support entirely her son. without help from the government.

I do not believe any baby born to an illegal immigrant should be granted American citizenship unless they can prove that they applied to immigrate to the USA, and have a valid visa entitling them to do so.

Love is good. Her son most certainly HAS left the US, just recently he went to Mexico and 'persuaded' the Mexican legislature to send a resolution to Bush asking him to pardon not only Arellano but ALL illegals who had children in the US.
Seems to me he knows his way around Mexico just fine.

Not necessarily.
Through the mother out, and the baby goes too.
Lots of debate on this issue right now.
