You may have had your arm resting on the edge of the desk whereby a nerve was pinched. If it is still numb, call your doctor.

You may be the victim of a repetitive strain injury, blocked circulation, or a pinched nerve.
If you use your computer for long periods, get up and stretch at least every 1/2 hour, and shake your hands and arms vigorously for ten seconds every 15 minutes, and this should be prevented.
Also try a wrist rest, buy at Staples or Office Max, and have good posture and a comfortable chair (ergonomics).

Your getting carpal tunnel, a pinched nerve in the neck, in the elbow, in the wrist from sitting at an awkward angle. Get up, stretch and walk around some.
