Mount Gay rum mixes well with tonic and lime.
You could also try a "dark & stormy" which is traditionally Gosling's rum and ginger ale.
Some of the high end, aged rums are quite nice simply on the rocks with a squeeze of lime.

It depends what type of rum. Coconut Rum/white rum (Malibu) is really nice with pineapple juice.

You should make some Strawberry Daiquiri's wit rum in it...it is really good...
