Just do what you Mom did for you when you were a kid. Flat ginger ale, and dry toast. Make sure you take enough fluids. That's the biggest problem is becoming dehydrated.

"It is important that you drink enough clear fluids, such as water, so you do not get dehydrated. You should also drink other fluids such as juices, clear soups, or oral rehydration fluids for vomiting or diarrhea. See a doctor if diarrhea or vomiting lasts more than two or three days, or if dehydration is a concern."

As other people have said, for standard stomach flu you just have to try and stay hydrated while your body deals with the infection. The best thing to drink is oral rehydration drink, made from sachets available at pharmacies. In an emergency, or when travelling abroad, you can make your own oral rehydration solution by mixing 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a quart of pure water. Be sure to measure accurately because incorrect amounts can make the solution less effective or even harmful.
If you are vomiting, don't drink a whole glass at once, but just keeping steadily sipping. If you start getting muscle cramps then you have probably just been drinking water and have lost a lot of salt. The rehydration drinks will help with this.
Normal stomach flu only lasts 3 or 4 days (hopefully less!), so if you are still sick after this, see a doctor. Of course if the symptoms are very severe, or you can't keep any fluids down, then see a doctor sooner.

Avoid foods that are high in sugar, fat, starch etc. Avoid caffeine and sugar drinks. Doctors recommend eating bread products such as bread, crackers, toast and drinking water or sports drinks like gatorade. It's pretty much common sense, don't eat anything that could upset your stomach even if you didn't have the flu. Most healthy foods are easy on the stomach especially during times of flu.

How is viral gastroenteritis treated?

The most important of treating viral gastroenteritis in children and adults is to prevent severe loss of fluids (dehydration). This treatment should begin at home. Your physician may give you specific instructions about what kinds of fluid to give. CDC recommends that families with infants and young children keep a supply of oral rehydration solution (ORS) at home at all times and use the solution when diarrhea first occurs in the child. ORS is available at pharmacies without a prescription. Follow the written directions on the ORS package, and use clean or boiled water. Medications, including antibiotics (which have no effect on viruses) and other treatments, should be avoided unless specifically recommended by a physician.

The stomach flu will just have to run its course. Careful hydration including flat clear colas such as Sprite or 7-Up and crackers as some form of substance is about it until the viral infection clears on its own.

Yes, believe it or not, a glass of Coke will help settle the stomach. White rice will calm diarrhea. The rice should be "soup-like".

cranberry juice helped me - and if you can,
get cranberries at the groccery - it's that time of year(in the USA)
If you can juice them - a cup of berries with the juice of two apples (any variety - don't juice the seeds)
the extra berries can be frozen until you need them - just warm them up - freezing will not hurt the enzymes - like the juice in a glass container that has been heated to 120 degrees - that knocks out the majority of the real benefits of the juice

good luck - I know it hurts
