I have these two codes from my grandfather’s army 64 book, they are ..." 3/LR/360 3rd Bn London"... and..."RA 15th (AN) BL,Y" can anyone shed some light on these please, also has far has I know he was in Peshawar, India, between Feb 1925 and Nov 1928. And I'm led to believe that he served 6 yrs in the colours and 6 years in the reserves? All help gratefully received

Batallions of the London Regiment were converted to anti-aircraft roles in the late 1930, and 15 Battery RA were one of the AA units formed, which may mean that the writing in the book is simply difficult to read - if the second entry read RA 15th (AA) Bty, it would make sense.

The 3rd Battalion London Regiment (The Royal Fusiliers) eventually became part of 69 Searchlight Regiment RA in the late 30's, so there is some continuity between the 2, although a little tenuous.

In terms of India, the 1st Bat Royal Fusiliers was posted there from 1920 to 1939 apparently - see link below - so this may explain at least in part the Peshawar connection.

Your best bet would be to contact the relevant museums - another answerer has already posted details, I believe - and follow the links off the page below, which may give you more details. It is difficult to do more without more exact details from the service record.

I think 3/LR/360 3rd BN London may stand for 3rd Battalion London Rifles. RA - as in RA 15th (AN) BL, Y - could be a Royal Artillery regiment.

You should be able to find out from the MoD website.

Contact The Army & ask them, there's records of every unit of every regiment that ever exsisted.
